Recently people have found themselves with more downtime, which has led some down the fitness path. Some see this time as a chance to make themselves better through health. Gyms were closed for at least four months in most parts of the nation when the pandemic first surfaced. When this happened, many people bought their own fitness equipment or turned to bodyweight. Many gyms are doing virtual classes or releasing copies of “quarantine workouts” that did not require weights of equipment. Exercise is often a way of coping with stressful times, which is why there has been a surge of people turning towards fitness in the past few months. Lately, gyms have begun to open up following CDC and state guidelines. Many people still fear COVID-19 and have decided that returning to the gym so soon what not the right things to do. For these people, they still focus on bodyweight exercises from home, with hopes of returning to the gym setting soon. Working out has always been part of my life through sports and has become an outlet for me during tough times. Here are a few workouts I have been doing throughout the pandemic with bodyweight.
- Abs – crunches, russian twists, plank, v-sit hold, bicycle crunches, penguins, leg raises, and scissor kicks.
- Legs – wall sit, lunges, calf raises, squats, and squat with sidekick
- Arms – pushups, tricep dips, plank shoulder taps, and superman
- Cardio – run at least 5 miles a week and walk at least 2 miles a day
